This “Espacio Caracol” (Snail Space), as named by UNIMET authorities, is the result of an exercise focused on seizing opportunities to improve the university community’s environment. After an exhaustive tour of the campus, this site was identified among others as an underutilized and poorly equipped area with immense potential for multifunctional use and social gathering.
A bleacher seating space was designed and equipped with sophisticated audiovisual technology, serving both for events and assemblies as well as for recreation and relaxation. Additionally, it was furnished with a mix of fixed and mobile furniture to support both teamwork or individual activities.

The structural grid of the exposed reinforced concrete ceiling was used to redesign the lighting system, featuring circular fixtures approximately 1.50m in diameter to provide the space with both light and character.
The integration of art within the space emerged as a timely possibility during the design process. The ensemble includes a ceramic mural by Rolando Peña (“Black Prince”). Furthermore, a large surface of 112 m² (6m high by 19m long) was used in collaboration with the graphic artist Jose Luis Sanchez “Chuchi” (Red.i.Cromia). The intervention resulted in a kind of graphic/musical composition, penetrable through a bridge, which gives the spatial whole a light support and a clear identity.
